The theme for 2007's issues is "Being Honest with Yourself and Your Horse."
The January 2007 issue starts out with reviews of Cesar Milan's animal training book and TV show; Scott Peck, M.D.'s "People of the Lie" and "A World Waiting to be Born"; a golden Forum discussion on what it means to "ask" a horse to perform; and a short-but-sweet synopsis of Birdie Theory from Dr. Deb's presentation at the 25th Annual Alberta Horse Owners and Breeders Conference. Featured this issue is an actual word-for-word transcript of Ray Hunt's Pasadena horsemanship clinic, with photos taken simultaneously so that you can see various students as they were actually being coached. This report is an exclusive - to appear nowhere else. Having this issue is almost as good as being there, and the transcript is great because you can study it again and again.
In the January issue, we continue our series on "Grand-Dad's Horses" by scrutinizing the origin of the Thoroughbred, probably the world's most influential horse. The report includes over 50 photos of major sires, pedigrees, performance records, and conformation analyses by Dr. Deb. Then, as if that wasn't enough, in the Mid-Year issue we build on the Thoroughbred history by documenting the American Quarter Horse, which is the most numerous breed in the world. There are photos and pedigrees of all the major Quarter Horse bloodlines, plus a detailed historical discussion that illuminates where Quarter Horses came from, how the type has changed over the centuries, and where the breed is now. If you own a Thoroughbred or a Quarter Horse, this disk is a "must have" item.
